1. Cook / Chef

Job Summary:

The Cook/Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals in line with Candied Caterers’ standards, including traditional Jamaican dishes and healthier menu options. This role requires efficiency, creativity, and attention to detail to ensure consistent taste, presentation, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch daily

  • Execute menu items with consistency and speed

  • Assist in menu planning and recipe development

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen

  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed

  • Coordinate with prep cook and kitchen/service assistant to ensure smooth operations

  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies

Qualifications:

  • Culinary certificate or diploma from an accredited institution

  • Minimum two years experience as a cook or chef in a restaurant or catering environment

  • Familiar with Jamaican cuisine, healthy and modern alternatives

Skills:

  • Bulk cooking 

  • Experience with vegan or vegetarian cooking is a plus

  • Knowledge of inventory management and food storage

  • Ability to manage kitchen staff and coordinate food prep efficiently

  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods

  • Excellent communication and time-management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask

  • Creative, adaptable, and able to take feedback

Required:

  • Valid Food Handlers' Permit

  • Must be punctual and reliable 

  • Must be flexible and available as for work and events as needed

  • Professional attitude and high standards for cleanliness and food safety

2. Prep Cook 

 

Job Summary:

The Prep Cook supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting in the basic tasks necessary to deliver efficient food service. This position is vital for keeping the kitchen organized and operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits

  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes

  • Keep the kitchen and prep area clean

  • Assist the chef with basic cooking tasks as needed

  • Help with kitchen cleanup and dishwashing

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or basic certificate in food preparation 

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food prep environment is an asset

  • Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and grow in a fast-paced kitchen

Skills:

  • Basic knife skills and understanding of food safety

  • Ability to read and execute recipes 

  • Ability to measure, portion, and prep ingredients accurately

  • Good time management and task organization

  • Able to work well in a team and communicate clearly with kitchen staff

  • Attention to detail and cleanliness

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods 

Required:

  • Valid Food Handlers' Permit

  • Willingness to perform various kitchen duties including cleaning, organizing, and dishwashing

  • Must be punctual and reliable 

  • Must be flexible and available for work and events as needed

  • Professional attitude and high standards for cleanliness and food safety

3. Kitchen & Service Assistant

 

Job Summary:

The Kitchen & Service Assistant is a dynamic team member responsible for supporting both kitchen operations and front-of-house service. This role involves assisting with food preparation, handling customer transactions, ensuring guests receive prompt and friendly service, and maintaining overall cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in basic kitchen duties including food prep, plating, and maintaining cleanliness

  • Operate the cash register and handle customer payments accurately

  • Take customer orders and provide excellent service with a warm, professional attitude

  • Serve food and beverages in a timely and courteous manner

  • Keep the service area, counter, and dining space clean and organized

  • Support the chef and prep cook as needed during busy service times

  • Help with restocking, inventory, and general kitchen upkeep

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • Customer service or hospitality training is an asset 

Skills:

  • Friendly, professional communication with customers and teammates

  • Quick learner, calm under pressure, and adaptable in a busy environment

  • Able to operate a cash register/POS system and handle transactions accurately (training will be provided)

  • Basic math and literacy skills for handling orders and payments

  • Basic food prep skills ( plating, basic knife skills, following recipes etc.) 

  • Good multitasking and ability to switch between kitchen and service roles smoothly

  • Strong attention to cleanliness and detail

  • Physically fit and stay active throughout a shift

Requirements:

  • Valid Food Handlers' Permit

  • Must be punctual and reliable 

  • Must be flexible and available for work and events as needed

  • A warm and respectful approach to both coworkers and customers
